The Kiss
Although he was in love with Vendulka, the farmer Lukáš gave in to his parents’ wishes and married another girl, who bore him a child and died. Now it seems he is free to marry Vendulka. Just about everyone is delighted with anticipation, except for Vendulka's father, Paloucký, who grants the couple grumbling permission, but warns that they are well matched in nothing but their hot tempers.
Paloucký's words prove true when a fearsome quarrel erupts between the lovers. Mayhem ensues, begging the question; will they ever reconcile and kiss at last?
